Eneim Cabin

Payson, Arizona
Residential 2,650 SF
Interiors KQ in collaboration with client

The “cabin” is a retreat in the woods for three generations: a working couple, their four children and the grandparents.

The tall house matches the spatial character of the Ponderosa Pine forest and minimizes disruption of the sloping, wooded site. The height also facilitates passive solar strategies by allowing significant solar gain in winter and utilizing the chimney effect for cooling in summer.

The materials and construction of the cabin—wood framing and Cedar siding on a base of natural stone gathered from the site—are in the tradition of the “Zane Grey country” in which the project is located.
