Arcadia Medical Office Building

Phoenix, Arizona
Commercial

On an unusual property, L-shaped and partially behind a funeral home, the expectation was that this medical facility would face the main thoroughfare, Indian School Road, for institutional identity. Instead, Scottsdale Healthcare had the courage to be one of the first privately-funded projects to put its front door to the Arizona Canal, rather than back to it.

Long porches, with peeled pole posts, wood beams and tin roof acknowledge the heritage of the Arcadia estate style of the 1920’s and 1930’s. Patients can walk and sit there, shaded from the sun, and enjoy views over the canal to Camelback Mountain.
